BRINGING WITH US —————–

JIM PECHA, B.ARCH. CHRISTIAN ARTIST
MINISTER OF CREATIVITY, copywrite 2015 ————
I visited many of the young women artists I met during my art shows, mainly the ones who lived in rural areas, I liked getting out of town. And I brought with me my continuous search for an understanding of life. Most artists are looking for something new to express or a new insight; so after the initial congenial greetings I would begin my questions about life, mainly how all the aspects combined with each other from the spiritual to the sexual. Most of the rural artists lived within a short distance of an old Adobe mission church, which affected their lives. Artists are not usually religious oriented, but these Churches were special because of the influences they had on the small villages, their intimate histories with the many generations of families. My most pointed question was how the spiritual presence of the Church affected their sexuality and consequently their artwork. The question opened their private lives, some resisted at first but because of my honest sincerity, they opened up seeing the potential for introspective insights and artistic expression, yes it is complicated. Everyone must deal with all the aspects of life, some more intently than others. Sex and the spiritual are the most powerful, private and controversial topics. Most artists are also, at some point in their work, dealing with the nakedness and nudity of models, sometimes they pose naked for other artists. This is a sexual activity, whether acknowledged or not.

As I’ve written about many times, bringing together all the aspects of life is the most interesting expression in life. Art of all types is more stimulating when some portion of all the aspects are included, but it is an art to do it.

The little mountain village pictured is one of the few where all these aspects of life are expressed from the spiritual to the sexual. It is a penitente village, which by itself combines spiritual, emotional, intellectual, social, physical and sexual. A few artists have been able to objectively view this village and it’s potential for helping other people understand life. They first experimented themselves with interacting with all these aspects of life. This is only helpful for people seeking an in-depth life experience. These young women artists attempted to combine their sexuality with the spiritual and then create art of some type to express what they felt. I only participated a few times since most were already married, had boy friends or women friends. I was allowed to observe the complex interactions between the spiritual and sexual, which stimulated them more by adding a social element. These were experiences far more interesting than simple people having sex together, there was purpose, spiritual meaning and outrageous sexual and emotional orgasms.

Artists are only a few types of people open to exploration of the in-depth internal workings of the human soul, heart, mind and body, willing to discuss the spiritual and sexual, willing to express what they discover visually and through writing.
